Dial Soap (Keep Clean)

By JJ | August 15, 2008

A true story about love, lust, and cleanliness.

Do you use wash cloths? I feel like they are a lost art of body cleansing. Please respond in the comments if you do…

Thats A Rap #3 - Second That Emotion

By JJ | August 15, 2008

This could be my new favorite thing to do…so I want to apologize in advance Motown, The Miracles, and to Jerry and the rest of the Dead.

Haha Sure, this song has been covered in every way from bluegrass to heavy metal…but I have never found it as a rap! The Grateful Dead really turned me onto this one so this is in tribute. I doubt that very many of these covers will go over the 1 minute mark…so I’d imagine everyone can find a single minute in their day to check it out.

Anybody have a GD song they want rapped? Just shoot a request in the comments and I’ll try to do it up…hell request whatever and I can make it happen.

By JJ | August 10, 2008

Captain’s Log: August 10th, 2008 - Badminton is on.

Not keeping my interest very long.
Moved onto guitar.
Made a really funky chord progression.
Was able to use recording machine to create track.
Decided to sing over it.
A few didn’t sound so good…my particle decelerator hadn’t yet arrived.
This one was passable, so I pres…

Jerry Week #2 ~ Mexicali Blues

By JJ | August 9, 2008

Wow…this could hands down be the weirdest (read: worst?) thing that I’ve ever created.

I woke this morning with hopes of doing a short ‘Mexicali Blues’ rendition…but after laying down the vocals, i got a little too into it. One sample after another and the end result sounds like Sloth from the goonies singing over a 50 Cent beat.

Check it out here:

…and once you’re ready to get that awful taste out of your mouth, here’s the real deal.
The Grateful Dead perform “Me and My Uncle” with a sweet “Mexicali Blues” transition.

#25 - Hogan of the Sea

By JJ | August 8, 2008

It’s truly amazing the things one can accomplish with a simple paint program and an imagination.

Eventually, I’m hoping it will get me into the NASA space program. From there, I will attempt to be the first to orbit the moons of Uranus backwards wearing nothing but 800 thread egyptian sheets.

Until then, it’s gonna have to be about Brooke Hogan. Hey, practice makes perfect:

Jerry Week Tribute ~ “Deep Elem Blues”

By JJ | August 7, 2008

My original intention was to do a few dead covers for Jerry Week…(the week of Aug. 1, Jerry’s Birthday, to Aug. 9, Jerry’s Death)

Alas, I never got around to it…but I was able to get something out in a hurry today. Only a few days left I had to do something!

The Grateful Dead performed this song entirely too well and I know I don’t do it justice, my guitar skills are well…EXTREMELY BASIC. But as Tenacious D would concur, I’m not going for the greatest song in the world…this is just a tribute.

enjoy!

Dangerous Way

By JJ | August 1, 2008

So dangerous…in a harmless kind of way.  That’s my new motto! :P

Yeahh, anyway this is what happens when you leave in my apartment alone for extended amounts of time.   I come out having created songs from whatever depths of my brain.

I was talkin’ to my friend Dave about “creation” and it feels good to create something at the end of the day.  Doesn’t matter what it is…could be a drawing, poem, song…but something solid that you can go back to days, months, years later.  Creation is so weird…something that NEVER EXISTED before and BAM! It’s here now…

Anyways, yeah I created this last night:

Girl of My Dreams

By JJ | July 30, 2008

This song is about the girl of my dreams. The words came to me in puffs of smoke as usual…and were never written down or anything. Just off the cuff as I listened to the beautiful harmony.

That woman…I see her every night on that same fabled street, where I offer her Chinese food and am turned down every time. Some day I hope she will accept my offer.

For now, this ode to my pretty lady will have to suffice.

Raw Meatball

By JJ | July 23, 2008

Many have said that the footage is too raw and the lyrics are undecipherable after a certain point…you’re right. This is on the account of two things. One, the lyrics/chords were made completely on the fly without any planning. A single track which couldn’t be mixed really any other way. This helps the listener feel the emotion of ‘Raw Meatball’ though, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. The second thing, well…for some reason i started the song off singing like Meatloaf and I had to keep that gimmick alive.

Ah well, without furter ado:

Raw Meatball
by: JJ Guaragno
========================
Lyrics:

And i always knew the day i tried to eat that damn spaghetti,
it was gonna slip right out of my teeth.

well i ate that whole spaaghetti bowl,
and thats when i knew…the meatballs were raw…

…and I say…

how can I eat a meatball when its raw?
I would rather drink my meat through a straw.

how can you eat a meatball when its raw?
Thats not the way that grandma cooked it anymore!
